About Socium
The Foundation for the Study of Society is an independent research centre based in Chișinău, Moldova. We believe society is more than a crowd of people, and that good decisions start with good data.
Advancing social progress through research
We support international organisations, government institutions, civil society and development partners with field research, evaluations and data analysis. We also build the capacity of local partners to collect and use data.
Our team brings together PhD holders, doctoral candidates and master's-level researchers in sociology, economics and statistics, with experience on national and internationally funded projects. We work in Romanian, Russian and English.

How our analyses are produced
The analyses published on this website are produced by a system of AI agents (Claude, developed by Anthropic) under the supervision of the Socium team. The workflow has four steps:
- Collection. An automated pipeline downloads data every day from the NBS Moldova statistical database (statbank.statistica.md), Eurostat and the World Bank. No other sources of figures are used.
- Analysis. The analyst agent receives only these data and drafts the analysis, citing the year and source of every figure.
- Verification. A second agent, the editor, recalculates every figure against the data, corrects errors and can block publication.
- Publication. Only approved analyses are published, in Romanian and English, with methodology notes and sources.
Please report any error to office@socium.md; corrections are made within 24 hours. Commissioned studies are designed, conducted and signed off entirely by Socium researchers.
