EU unemployment 2025: the gap between member states has narrowed from 20.6 to 7.7 points
In 2015 the distance between Greece (25.0%) and Germany (4.4%) was 20.6 pp; in 2025 the gap between Spain (10.5%) and Czechia (2.8%) is 7.7 pp. Convergence has not automatically meant less poverty.

In 2025, 20.9% of the EU population was at risk of poverty or social exclusion, 3.1 pp less than in 2015. Romania made the fastest progress but remains near the bottom of the ranking.
